Frozen in Time
Unfortunately our government is so divided were frozen in time. Should we help the Libyans or should we watch them go it alone? I hated the way the Left demonized President Bush, I also despise the way the Right is demonizing President Obama. When the country as a whole elects a President we should all respect this. Now it seems if it isn't my pick then stop everything until my choice is in office. As a nation all we can do is lurch ahead when trying to solve any of the truly meaningful problems of our time. Now that we are here in this partisan atmosphere maybe some fresh new ideas are needed. For one why do we always look at our military to help people fighting for democracy? We have an all-volunteer military now and it works. So why don't we as a nation ask for volunteers to go fight for freedom in any country that asks? Or have we forgotten what it took to gain our freedom? My son felt freedom for all and defense of his country was important. He put his money where his mouth is! The young man is in Iraq for one year with the Army. Would I go to Libya at 56 to help bring freedom, yes I would. The only problem is I guess I would be a terrorist in some eyes. If our government would organize and sanction this we could make a difference. Well enough of an old mans ramblings.
